Accessibility Statement
In designing this website, we have attempted to make it accessible to as wide an audience as we can. To do this, there are a number of things we have done;
- All text should be resizeable using your browsers 'Text size' bitton.
- Style sheets have been used to create the design. You should be able to use your own style sheet, or to disbale the style sheets being used, without affecting the content.
- 'Breadcrumb' trails are at the top of each section to aid navigation within the site.
- A menu of the main section of the site is located at the top of each page.
- HTML heading elements have been used to represent page structures, and to aid navigation by browsers that allow page navigation from heading to heading.
- All images should have alternative text.
- Links should make sense out of context.
Keyboard Access
- Keyboard access keys and tab keys have not been altered, allowing you to customise your own keys according to your own preferences.
- A 'Skip Navigation' button has been placed at the top of each page to allow for skipping directly to the main text for the page.
Standards Compliance
- Pages have been checked as much as possible for compliance with HTML 4.01, using the W3C markup validator
- The stylesheet used should validate against the W3C CSS validator.
- We have tried to ensure that all pages comply with our interpretation of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. If our interpretation differs from your own, please let us know.
- Accessibility has been checked using Wave 4.0 . It's not infallible, but it has helped with some elements.
Potential Problems
- Some information has been presented as downloadable PDF documents. Since these documents are not complex, they should (we hope!) be accessible to all screen readers etc, so we have not provided text alternatives. If this proves to be a problem, we are happy to provide text alternatives. If feedback suggests that many users find this difficult, we will consider providing text alternatives to all PDF files.
